Esra Mengülerek (2000, Istanbul) studied at the Department of Art and Crafts Education at Marmara University. Throughout her education, she studied Painting and Sculpture. Established Uncertainty (2025)
The series "Established Uncertainty" centers on the temporality and transformation of spaces. Every structure bears the traces of its past; surface layers, traces of repair, abandonment, and the erosion of surfaces make the accumulation of time visible. However, these visible layers are only part of the narrative: what the structure will become in the future—reuse, destruction, or another metamorphosis—always remains uncertain. The series juxtaposes three states of space—presence, void, destruction—with three layers of time—past, present, and future—and makes the tension between them visible in moments of decision. While the space's exterior may appear fixed, the traces of people and cultural transformations passing through it constantly reshape it; This situation produces a fine crack between continuity and disappearance.
