Born in Istanbul in 2001, Geçalp graduated from the Department of Painting at Dokuz Eylül University's Faculty of Fine Arts in 2024. His work is often shaped by nature, daily life, and memories. His works primarily consist of paintings. He utilizes artistic practices to understand nature and strengthen his personal connection with it. He keeps visual records of his daily life, his experiences, observations, and memories—in other words, his personal history. In his works, he focuses on the raw emotions evoked in him by seemingly ordinary things he encounters in his daily life. The images he holds onto his personal memories bear traces of both himself and the city and culture he lives in.
In his work, the artist focuses on the alienation and disconnection between himself and nature. Art becomes an important tool in his search for ways to heal his dull relationship with nature. As a way to strengthen his connection with nature, he turns to plants and imagines how the world appears through their eyes. In his paintings, which emerge from a naive curiosity about the lives of plants, he strives to reveal the magical and rich beauty of nature that escapes us in the busy daily routine.
