EXHIBITION: XII. Artweeks İstanbul

DESCRIPTION

Born in Istanbul, the artist is a graduate of Yıldız Technical University's Department of Combined Arts. During his undergraduate studies, he focused on the concepts of spatial memory, the body, and the mind; during this period, he developed an interest in street art. He developed his project "Astratopia" with canvases and stickers he left on the streets of Turkey and Europe. After his art education in Spain, his productions have been shaped by identity, nature, the individual, and political issues. He produces sculpture, installation, digital print, and painting. He is also pursuing his master's degree in Art and Design at YTU.

"Astratopia" points to a realm of consciousness beyond the physical self, where thought becomes visible and identity is reshaped. The silhouettes that emerge in the ordinary scenes of daily life are the traces of a self that is not present at the moment but establishes its existence through thought. These works aim to capture the moment when the mind hears its inner voice, confronts questions of the self, and withdraws into the soul's own dimension.

Each figure, along with the question that passes through it, represents the urge to transcend the body. Questions like "Whose voice is in your head?" and "Who were you yesterday, who are you today?" take the viewer on a kind of astral excursion through the topography of their own consciousness. This is an attempt to strip away the body and reach the naked state of thought.

In this universe where the "I" is a layered, fluid state, far from singularity, and where each new realization gives birth to a different "I," identity is a silhouette: it changes depending on how you fill it.
