Kardelen Erken, I was born in Istanbul in 1997. I graduated from Avni Akyol Fine Arts High School's Painting Department in 2015. In 2017, I began my undergraduate studies in the Painting Department at Mimar Sinan Fine Arts University. After completing my undergraduate studies, I entered the Mimar Sinan Fine Arts University Master's program in 2023. I am currently pursuing my master's degree. In 2023, I qualified as a 5th Term Artist in the "1 Year in the Passage" program.
The artist depicts the fleeting nature of the moment, drawing on childhood memories and visual images. In this visual world where lines, textures, and layers intertwine, she connects the viewer with the quiet moments of nature. The interplay of lines and colors simultaneously evokes the simplicity and complexity of the fields. Inspired by her walks through hay fields and the calm and serene atmosphere of nature, she invites the viewer to join her in this act of walking in her paintings. In her works, gestural brushstrokes and dense layers of paint initially emphasize the transience of the atmosphere and the moment, while the prominent grasses and natural elements in the foreground stand out as memorable images. The artist's works emphasize the freedom of childhood and the deep connection to the earth.
