Merve Topuz was born in Istanbul in 1990. She graduated from the Painting Department of Mimar Sinan Fine Arts University. The artist, whose latest works feature modern still lifes, continues to produce in Istanbul.
Humans, in their pursuit of self-expression and communication—one of their greatest concerns—continue their journey, which began with cave paintings, through pictograms, alphabets, and codes.
A reflection of this same construct is observed when one follows my life cycle. The language I create with my own alphabet, symbols, and colors is a praxis.
I created a space for myself, distant from time, and within it, I painted representations of syndromes that exist in life and in humanity, seemingly unrelated but that, together, transform into a single phenomenon.
